This is our first collaboration with Anuvat, the Long Island rod builder. We had been discussing this project for a while, focusing on the color and design. We ultimately chose Matte Metallic Bronze for this collab series. After we all agreed on the design, we tested the handles on the field of Amberjack jigging and top water fishing in North Carolina, as well as Bluefin tuna in New York and New Jersey.
The limited series comes in 2 differents length, 85mm and 95mm, compatible with Shimano Stella and Twinpower SW from 8k to 30k, and Daiwa Saltiga and Certate SW from 8k to 14k, and 18k to 25k. When it comes to vertical jigging, speed is the main concern. You need fast retrieves to work a metal jig with the correct rhythm and maintain a consistent tempo. When a fish hits on the drop, the ability to eliminate slack quickly is crucial. The 85mm handle makes it easier to pick up line slack, giving you a higher chance of setting the hook before the fish shakes free.
The longer length, 95mm, is suitable for topwater casting or giant BFT jigging with a 20k Stella power gear. It not only gives you more leverage to work a topwater lure with proper horizon movement, but it also enhances torque, you will feel how much easier it is to crank in a giant.
